The name ZAZI is derived from the Xhosa Language meaning ‘ to know your self’ , it relates to how one must acknowledge her identity, history and their cultural origins. Its only when you know yourself, ZAZI, that one can appreciate his or her being and celebrate it. As people our fashion, style is influenced by how we view the world and the statement we want to make to the world.
ZAZI HOLDINGS is a 100% black owned company with its headquarters now in East London where we are operating a factory and factory shops in in different addresses. We are the only clothing manufacturer in the Eastern cape that manufactures uniform for ENGEN fourcourts and refineries nationally. We currently employed more than 50 permanent staff members .
The company was founded in 2018 By ONWABA MLEVE and have had its first factory in BUTTERWORTH, IBIKA INDUSTRIAL SITES. In Butterworth we managed we managed to revive a clothing and textile factory that was closing down and had operated it until 2023.
ZAZI managed to preserve 90 jobs that were on the line. Unfortunately we had to relocate the Butterworth factory due to constant power outages from cable theft. We also experienced vandalism, burglaries and water shortages. We supply work wear to a few private sector organizations and are on the verge of joining forces to supply Woolworths SA with ZAZI branded clothing consignment.
In 2022 we were awarded an Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury Tender to supply PPE to all Government departments. We closed off our 2022 on the high note as we were nominated as a Finalist by productivity SA representing the province of EASTERN CAPE.
ZAZI has become a force to be reckoned with in the Xhosa traditional wear sector. Our unique designs have turned what has been known as ‘traditional wear ‘ to the world class Gala Dresses that has been featured on red carpets for Hollywood films premier such as Wakanda and local television productions. Due to our huge online following ZAZI was head hunted and invited twice in 2023 to showcase at the New York fashion for September 2023 and February 2024at times square New York. Ever since that invitation , the demand for our designed has gone global ever since.
Our clientele ranges from young professional , celebrities, royal families and members of parliament among others. The brand has sold itself across Racial lines. ZAZI currently has 5 inters whom are being mentored to lead and manage their own teams.
